VANTASSEL BUILDS A NAVAJO HUT
Third grade students who work with Trina Liapis and Stacy Swedberg have been
studying Indigenous Tribes and working on posters to accompany them. Diligent kids have been working on finishing their projects at home and Kiley VanTassel, unable to share her project at school as planned, was very excited to share her Navajo hut on social media! Children in third grade at Blackduck Elementary study Indigenous Peoples as part of their Social Studies curriculum every year.

Students of the Week
Sixth grade teacher Alecia Moore has selected Wade Lamm as this week’s Student of the Week for Blackduck Elementary School. “Wade is one of our fulltime distance learners,” said Mrs. Moore. “He is always in class and ready to participate online. He has a positive attitude and is a great role model for his peers.”

This week’s Blackduck Elementary Student of the Week is 1 st grader Callen Kotula. “I chose Callen because he is so kind to students and adults,” said his teacher Sheena Reese. “I don’t ever have to tell Callen what to do, because he is always paying attention and thinking ahead so he is prepared for our next task! He is a kid that helps everyone clean after playtime, even if he didn’t play with those specific toys. He just accepts that it is cleanup time and goes above and beyond. Going above and beyond seems to be natural for Callen. He just does his best all the time and reaches out of his comfort zone to better himself. Keep up the great work, Callen! I’m proud of you!”
