BHS ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
This week’s Athletes of the Week are Drakes golfer Beka Henriksen, Bulldogs runner
and hurler Ethan Plutko, and two amazing Drakes softball pitchers:
Anna Swedberg and McKenzie Bullock
“Beka Henriksen has been golfing as our number 1 golfer this season,” said
Drakes Head Golf Coach, Danny Hangaard. “Beka has gained a lot of distance on her
shots this year and her scores have reflected that. At Headwaters Golf Course this past
week, Beka shot a career best 117 to finish in the top 15 out of 50 golfers.
Great job Beka!”
Junior track star Ethan Plutko took home honors in three events at the
Northome/Kelliher/Blackduck Bulldogs Track Meet last week. “He competed in the Long
Jump where he took 1st place, 100 meters where he took 2nd and anchored the 4x200
that took second place in our first home meet of the year,”
said the Bulldog’s Blackduck Head Coach Amos Bessler.
The Blackduck Drakes Softball pitchers Anna Swedberg and McKenzie Bullock are hard
to hit and harder to beat in the 2026 season. “Anna threw a NO HITTER on Friday,” said
Drakes Head Softball Coach Judd Shogren, “and went 2-0 on the mound last week. She
had 12 strikeouts in 2 games pitched with a brilliant .778 ERA this week. On offense,
Anna drove in 5 runs at the plate!”
McKenzie was also strong on the mound, with a 2-0 record last week, a .778 ERA, and 12 strikeouts. “McKenzie was a force at the plate last week too,” said Shogren, “batting .615! She had 8 hits in 4 games, with 7 RBI! Quite a week for the young slugger!”
